After being made redundant in 1996, my employer gave me (and probably 100 of us), very generic financial advice. It was following this advice I decided to get in touch with Carrick Financial Management. 20 years later we regard Michael as a trusted friend, who has helped us get a much better Return on Investment. Being retired we’re not looking to break the bank, but we do like our holidays and have been able to visit every state in the USA. I don’t intend to be a rich corpse, and working with Carrick Financial Management has really helped us enjoy our retirement.
I’ve known Michael since he set up the business over 20 years ago. My pensions weren’t going to be generating enough money the way they were. Being a business owner I’d like to say I take higher risks than the average person, so Michael looked at my pension and offered some alternatives which I chose which are looking far more beneficial for me. I find Carrick Financial Management very professional and what I like is that they come to me for a face to face meeting.
Prior to working with Carrick Financial Management we managed our own portfolio, and sometimes we were making decisions we were not totally comfortable with and that left us feeling anxious.
Having Carrick Financial Management as our advisers is great as they take a broader look at the market, given our circumstances and where we could invest, without us feeling that we’re being bombarded. They really know the market and they help us by doing the research, making us more aware of what’s out there. For us this is taking away the fear.
I left working for the bank about 18 years ago and I’d left my pension sitting there, waiting for me retire. A friend recommended Carrick Financial Management as they had their company pension transferred by them and was happy with the service. Paul was great – he spent time explaining the options in simple ABC terms, which is what I asked for, which made the whole process easier for me to understand. I found Carrick Financial Management very professional, efficient and readily available when I was ready. The staff at the office were very friendly and they chased me when I needed chasing on one final piece of paperwork, which I would have forgotten.
As well as my main pension, I had two small pensions which were not going to give me a very good income, so I decided I would transfer them. I used to work in finance so thought it would be relatively easy. How wrong could I have been? I really went around the houses from initially going to a building society who said they couldn’t do it, to another IFA and then came to Carrick Financial Management. We needed to challenge some of the final figures set by my previous employer and Paul made this process a lot quicker for me by using email. I’d recommend Carrick Financial Management as they are confident, professional, and friendly. They really do put you at ease.
I use Justin from Carrick Financial Management because he has arranged mortgages for me in the past. The overall experience was spot on and the recent mortgage was as smooth as the last one. Because I’m self employed Justin found a specific contractor mortgage. He was able to look at the whole of the market and offered mortgages which were balanced between being a good rate and what I can realistically get approval for. I found Justin trustworthy, informative, knowledgeable and he gets the job done.
